“God’s flock is in your midst; give it a shepherd’s care”

(1Pt 5:2)

Sr. Nelia had the joy of her mother’s visit from the USA during the month of January, and we all enjoyed her pleasant company.

“Small is beautiful” is a group of inter-congregational Sisters that caters for Religious Congregations in Melbourne that have small numbers in promoting gatherings for mutual support and opportunities for prayer and recreation.

On 17th February 2007 the group held a reflection day attended by forty five Religious Sisters. On this day the Archbishop of Melbourne, Rev. Denis Hart, joined the group for morning tea and took the opportunity for thanking the Religious for their contribution to the life of the Church in Melbourne.

On 24 February, the Sisters in Bundoora were delighted to share a meal with their friend, the auxiliary bishop of Melbourne, Rev. Christopher Prowse. In recent years he was one of the pastors we worked with in the parish of Holy Spirit, East Thornbury.

On 10 March 2007 Sr. Rita led a reflection day for lectors and special ministers of the Eucharist from St. Luke’s parish, Lalor-Thomastown, inviting them to a deeper appreciation of their call to serve the parish community and their understanding of the Eucharist. The day concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist presided by Fr. Vittorio Basso who is assistant priest at St. Luke’s.

On 17 March 2007 another group of lectors and special ministers of the Eucharist gathered in our house. This group is made up of Italian speaking people that minister to the Italian speaking people of the parish of St. Luke.  The sessions were held by Fr. Dino Torresan, CS, also assistant priest at St. Luke’s, with the help of Sr. Letizia Selle and Sr. Nelia Llanto.
