Pauline Cooperators gather for their annual retreat

On Saturday 22 August 2009, the Pauline Cooperators gathered in Bundoora, Melbourne, for their annual retreat.

Sr. Rita Ruzzene, Pastorelle Sister, who recently returned from attending the Course on the Charism of the Pauline Family in Rome, led the retreat. In the course of the day she presented three reflections on the Pauline Spirituality: to live Jesus Master-Shepherd, Way Truth and life.

In the first reflection Sr. Rita looked at St. Paul as our model and example, and as the interpreter of the Divine Master-Shepherd, his spirit of universality and zeal for the mission, and the ‘total Christ’ as the heart of Paul’s spirituality.

After some quiet time for personal reflection and morning tea, Sr. Rita gave a second input focusing on the biblical foundations of the Pauline Spirituality. The third meditation imagined a life lived in Christ Way Truth and Life according to the global vision transmitted to the Pauline Family by Blessed Alberione.

After lunch the group gathered for the Eucharistic visit in the chapel following the Pauline method Way, Truth and Life.

The group of Cooperators came from different parishes around Melbourne representing various nationalities, as is characteristic of the Church: Australian, Sri Lankan, Indonesian, Filipino, Pakistani, Japanese, Italian and Chinese: truly an expression of universality and communion in the one Lord, Way, Truth and Life! Present were also Sr Shamim FSP, Sr. Angelica PDDM, six Pastorelle Sisters and Fr John Li CS who is assistant priest at St. Luke’s parish, Lalor, where the Pastorelle Sisters carry out their ministry of pastoral care in collaboration with the Scalabrinian Priests.

The next gathering with the Pauline Cooperators and Friends will be to celebrate the memory of Blessed James Alberione on 22 November 2009.
