Philippine-Australia-Saipan Province

The Definitive Yes

Inspired by the 10th chapter of the gospel of John, (10:10) “I came so that they may have life and have it abundantly” Sisters Jessica Aglavia, Roselle Dela Cruz, Marites Perez and Doris Arcon, of the Philippine-Australia-Saipan Province professed there perpetual vows to the Lord last August 27, 2010 at the Our lady of the Pillar Cathedral - Imus, Cavite. The grace-filled event was a celebration of gratitude for God’s fidelity not only to the four young perpetual Sisters but to the whole congregation. Likewise it was for us a moment of renewing one’s conviction to commit oneself to the ministry of pastoral care with deep sense of spirituality and pastoral conversion.

The occasion was graced by the presence of the Archbishop of Lipa, Archbishop Ramon Arguelles, D.D., the priests of the Pauline Family, the priests-collaborators, professors and friends of the Sisters. Also present were their families, their relatives, friends, members of the Pauline congregations and institutes and the lay leaders in the parishes where they were assigned.

In his homily Bishop Tagle emphasized that the first condition to become a  shepherd is to be a sheep first. The second condition is to be a good sheep. The third condition is the good sheep is able to become a good shepherd to other sheep. According to him, a sheep allows the shepherd to guide, guard, protect and lead him to the green pasture. One who is able to listen and to obey humbly can be a good shepherd to others because he is attuned to the voice of the ONE who will direct his whole life. Bishop Tagle also made a comparison between the ways of the good shepherd and the ways of the other kind of shepherd who works for pay. He concluded that Jesus the Good Shepherd gave Peter the pastoral imperatives in I Peter 5:1-4. The Pastorelle Sisters are called to do the same.
